EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ozarks Tech will open the Michael L. Parson Student Union in August, featuring a library, fitness center, bookstore plus dining options. The new union near Chestnut Expressway will also spur campus updates including potential parking improvements and building changes. Springfield News-Leader
- ➤ Springfield-Greene County Libraries finalized their annual report today showing nearly 2 million physical and 810,987 digital items circulated in 2024-2025. The report highlights 4,256 programs and 8,386 kids in Summer Reading — plus 27,185 free meeting space uses and more than 103,000 active cardholders at 10 branches. Springfield News-Leader
- ➤ Springfield Public Schools and Jordan Valley Community Health Center will launch a pilot program in 2026 that brings mobile clinics to 11 schools for on-site medical, dental and vision care — easing access for students and minimizing missed work or school time. Springfield News-Leader
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sterling Mathis of the Hotel of Terror in Springfield is gathering signatures to halt an eminent domain process approved on Dec. 15 as the city plans to replace a 100-year-old Main Street bridge. Mathis needs 1,500 signatures in 30 days for a public vote on the attraction’s future. KY3
