COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Road construction on Springfield’s northside is limiting access to the Southwest Missouri Humane Society. MoDOT is realigning the intersection on Norton and Melville Road for the I-44 overpass project, closing it for two weeks while the bridge work is expected to finish by the end of the year. KY3
- ➤ The Springfield Christmas parade themed "Wrapped in Plaid" will start at 2 p.m. Saturday on South Avenue at Elm Street, winding through downtown and boosting local businesses. Police have set up traffic and parking measures to keep the event safe. KY3
- ➤ Community Partnership of the Ozarks has launched its Workplace to Warm Place program asking local businesses to send extra volunteers to keep fourteen cold weather shelters open through January and February (the Springfield Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is sponsoring three weeks). - ➤ St. George’s Donuts will open a new location in Nixa this spring at 701 North McCroskey St, sharing space with PaPPo’s Pizza, and owner Nick St. George expects the shop to bring a familiar local feel (similar to its Ozark branch) to the community. Springfield Daily Citizen

- ➤ Queen City Sings will perform Handel’s Messiah on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church (2852 S. Dayton Ave) with nearly 100 singers and a 17-piece orchestra. The free event welcomes community members from the region to join the festive celebration. KSMU
