  • A local couple is facing extra financial stress after taking in three grandchildren along with their own two children and cutting back work hours before Christmas. A Share Your Christmas donor has stepped in to help the family get gifts for every child before Dec. 17.  Springfield News-Leader

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The USDA ended funding for the Heartland Regional Food Business Center that helped Missouri farmers get market access and technical support, which had created many new partnerships between farmers and buyers. Local leaders in the coalition are now working to find new funding sources to keep the support system running—farmers face tougher challenges without federal dollars.  Springfield News-Leader

  • Missouri State Bears earned a bowl bid on the final day of the regular season by finishing 7-5 and tying for fourth in Conference USA. Fans are encouraged to fill out the online bowl travel and ticket intent form as bowl pairings and game details will be announced later.  KY3
