COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Springfield City Council approved $24,000 on Monday night to install two new markers that honor Black history and celebrate Route 66. The African-American Heritage Trail marker will recognize Roberta Bartley and Olive Decatur at the Bartley-Decatur Neighborhood Center (918 E. Calhoun) while Visit Springfield will lead plans for the Route 66 marker.  KSMU

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Incredible Pizza Company unveiled a new brand identity as Incredible Food and Fun on Tuesday during an expo in Springfield—marking 25 years of evolution from a pizza buffet to a family destination. The company said the rebrand will start on Jan. 7 and include updated signage, interior upgrades and new daily offers.  OzarksFirst.com
  • Beginning May 22, 2026, Springfield residents can take nonstop flights with Allegiant Air twice a week from Springfield-Branson National Airport to Gulf Shores International Airport. Flights run on Mondays and Fridays (tickets available online) and add to SGF’s coastal options as Gulf Shores welcomes over six million visitors each year.  OzarksFirst.com

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Missouri hunters started the November deer season with 70,173 deer harvested on opening weekend as recorded by the Missouri Department of Conservation — top county numbers were 1,761 in Franklin, 1,269 in Howell and 1,232 in Wayne on Saturday and Sunday. New rules for moving deer parts and for chronic wasting disease are now in place this season.  OzarksFirst.com
  • Residents in the Wadsworth subdivision have struggled with water outages from an aging well that has required multiple pump repairs — today the Department of Natural Resources will test water quality and the water board is set to meet Sunday at 3 pm to plan permanent fixes.  KY3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Springfield Police Department launched a new Street Outreach Team on Nov. 17 to help individuals facing homelessness access local programs and services — the two officers will work with non-profits and hospitals — to support stability and enforce laws as needed.  OzarksFirst.com
  • Drivers on the north side found W. Division Street, just east of Kansas Expressway, closed on Tuesday morning at the BNSF Railway crossing and the road will remain closed until Monday, November 24 to allow crews to replace the crossing and resurface the street—efforts funded by the city sales tax and BNSF Railway.  OzarksFirst.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Missouri will launch legal sports betting Dec. 1 after voters approved the measure more than a year ago, and Springfield residents are divided as some look forward to potential revenue while others warn that online betting can be very addictive. Therapist Ed Derr urged locals to set betting limits — noting that 24-hour help is available through resources such as the Missouri Problem Gambling Helpline.  OzarksFirst.com
  • Missouri State University Bears will travel on Saturday to face the Kennesaw State Owls in a game that could affect the regular-season title race. Both 7-3 teams will meet in what is expected to be one of the season's toughest tests for MSU.  KY3
