  • Downtown Springfield’s Ty Iechyd Da Distillery will open its 700-square-foot tasting room, The Snug, on Friday, Nov. 14, with a ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. The small room at 507 W.   • Veteran volunteers lead guided tours at the Air and Military Museum of the Ozarks on E. Kearney Street, where guests see fighter jets, Jeeps, and a restored Cobra helicopter and hear stories of military service—honoring the nation’s heroes.   • Springfield Public Schools teamed with local nonprofit Care to Learn to provide food, clothing, and hygiene items to families in need after the government shutdown—requests for help jumped from 15 a day to over 150 daily.  KY3

  • U.S. Army Reserve Major General Dean Thompson gave the keynote speech at Bass Pro’s Veterans Day event on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the White River Conference Center with about 450 attendees present. He spoke about his 40-year military career, explained how his faith guided his decisions, and urged Springfieldians to protect the Constitution and support local growth including plans for Lake Springfield — a call to value our own backyard.  Springfield Daily Citizen
  • Travelers at Springfield-Branson National Airport are noticing significant renovations as the old carpet is replaced with new terrazzo tile near the security checkpoint, lobby, and gates with flooring work scheduled to finish next summer—passengers also benefit from a completed $9.2M jet bridge replacement and an expanded short-term parking area that added 162 spaces last Friday.  OzarksFirst.com
  • Veterans in Springfield benefit from rising marijuana sales as part of the tax money goes to veteran programs—Flora Farms president Mark Hendren said the regulated market has boosted funds.   • Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth will hold Miracle Week from December 1—7 and invite local residents to donate funds that support medical care for children and families.   • Celebrations for veterans continue around the Ozarks while many who served struggle with depression, PTSD, and a suicide rate 1.5 times higher than for most people — signs that they face serious mental health challenges.   • Drake Baldwin, a former Missouri State star, won NL Rookie of the Year after stepping in for Atlanta’s injured catcher Sean Murphy in spring training—he hit .274 with 19 home runs in 124 games. The 24-year-old earned 21 of 30 first-place votes and joined Athletics star Nick Kurtz as a Rookie of the Year winner.  KY3
