COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation is asking Springfield seniors to join its foster grandparent program by matching each volunteer with a child or teen to share time and support—addressing the needs of both older residents and local youth.  KY3
  • Springfield-Branson National Airport is selling carpet squares for $10 each or a Carpet Flight for $25 to support the Springfield Regional Arts Council as it replaces its iconic carpet that served 16 years and 15 million passengers. Buyers can get the pieces online or at the Holiday Art Market—Dec 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.—to take home a piece of local history.  OzarksFirst.com

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Dutch Bros Coffee opened its first Springfield location on Friday at 5:00 a.m. on W. Sunshine near McCurry Avenue — cars lined up early for the grand opening. The Oregon-based firm will open another store at Ozark Marketplace in the coming months.  OzarksFirst.com
  • Brightli completed its merger with Centerstone on Nov. 3, rebranding local behavioral health services for over 10,000 employees to serve 250,000 people, and Ozarks Food Harvest spent $800k to feed families during the federal shutdown with drive-thru grocery events scheduled for today and Nov. 10—additional updates include new pediatric care partnerships, bank leadership changes, and a new hotel opening in Branson.  Springfield News-Leader

CULTURE NEWS

  • Willard native Chappell Roan, who won the Best New Artist Grammy in 2025, received two 2026 Grammy nominations on Friday for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for her song 'The Subway' — she delivered the nominations in a live broadcast.  KY3
  • The legendary rock band Journey will bring their Final Frontier farewell tour to Springfield on June 25, 2026 at Great Southern Bank Arena at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning at 10 a.m. on November 14.  OzarksFirst.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Food pantries for students have seen a big jump in demand—voucher requests went from 20 to 150 daily at Care to Learn, and longer lines have been reported at Bear Pantry. The groups are asking community partners for more support to help more families in need.  Springfield Daily Citizen

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Springfield-Branson National Airport remains mostly unaffected although some flights may be delayed when larger hubs cut flights starting today. Director Brian Weiler said nine American flights daily plus 30 flights to major hubs have seen few cancellations while air traffic controllers remain unpaid amid the shutdown.  KY3
  • Springfield Mayor Jeff Schrag will kick off the holiday season by lighting the Mayor’s Tree in Park Central Square at 6 p.m. on November 22—kids will see Santa and Mrs. Claus in the Christmas Tree House and enjoy live performances and free attractions.  KY3

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • On November 4th, Ozark’s Board of Aldermen approved the Marabella development, a 229-acre project east of James River Church that will add almost 800 new homes, 4 acres of walking trails, and 10 commercial lots. Marabella LLC will begin excavation in 2026 and build the project in 18 phases over the next five to 10 years—city planners say the development fits with Ozark’s comprehensive plan.  Springfield Daily Citizen

SPORTS NEWS

  • Missouri State Bears travel to Liberty today at noon for a key Conference USA game on ESPN—Liberty Flames hold a 4 to 4 record while Missouri State Bears are 5 to 3 following recent wins.  KY3
  • Springfield will host the National Christian HomeSchool Basketball Championships through 2030 after agreeing to a five-year extension with the Springfield Sports Commission and Visit Springfield; the event, held each March since 2009, brings around 400 teams, 3,500 participants, and uses over 20 local venues. In 2025, the championship recorded a record 408 teams and generated about $6 million directly with an expected $30 million economic impact by 2030 — a sign of its vital role in our local sports calendar.  OzarksFirst.com
