COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Springfield-Greene County Library District will host a series of October events—it will run a Socktober sock drive and storytime for foster families from October 1 to 31, a children’s horror book tasting on October 14 at 6 p.m., a mini tour of global cultures on October 17 from 4 to 6 p.m., and a folk harp show by Turner Collins on October 19 at 2 p.m.—while also continuing to offer limited-run library cards.  Springfield News-Leader

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rescue One clinic in Springfield has secured new veterinarians to avoid closure after Dr. Keisner is set to leave on December 1. The clinic partnered with the Animal Clinic of Ava so that Dr. Mike Peters and his team (Dr. Kearns, Dr. Knickmeyer, and Dr. Porubsky) will begin rotating with Dr. Keisner starting October 20.  OzarksFirst.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Kansas City Chiefs will play the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday night in a must-win game to avoid a 2–4 start after three losses in five games — Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said the team must match the Lions’ intensity while managing penalties and a player suspension.  KY3
