  • Today, Empower Abilities hosted its annual Day at the Lake at Fellows Lake to help people with disabilities enjoy the outdoors. The free event featured adaptive kayaking, crafts, games, local vendors, and a classic car show—more than 400 people registered.  KY3
  • The annual Ozark Craft Fair is taking place at Finley River Park this weekend — with over 320 vendor booths and a variety of food trucks offering unique finds. Ozark Police Department warns that traffic may be heavy today as the fair continues until 4 p.m.  KY3

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, residents can view a rare celestial event as the nearly full Harvest Moon rises with Saturn positioned just below—its yellow glow visible to the naked eye. The event lasts from 7:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. Monday and offers a chance to see Saturn's slender rings with a telescope.  OzarksFirst.com

  • The Renew Jordan Creek project in downtown Springfield is halfway complete with work remaining on plaza spaces, landscaping, native plantings, and water quality features after heavy spring rain delays. Campbell Avenue will reopen October 27 — and meanwhile, Boonville will close for about eight months for a new box culvert and railroad crossing improvements.  OzarksFirst.com
  • Lawmakers, civic leaders and child welfare advocates will meet on Oct. 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. at 1414 W. Elfindale St. in Springfield to discuss ways to stop child abuse and neglect—Sara Smith will give a keynote address on the current efforts and next steps.  OzarksFirst.com

  • Around the Ozarks, corn maze and pumpkin patch attractions are busy this season as some hosts offer haunted maze experiences with trained scare actors ensuring safety.
