ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A runner was bitten by a copperhead snake on Friday, Sept.19 on the Finley River Greenway Trail near the Ozark Career Center—police and emergency crews responded and took the runner to a hospital, and they said the person is expected to recover.  OzarksFirst.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today at Cider Days, Hold Fast Brewing hosts a new beer garden made possible by city rules that raised alcohol limits from 5% to 8% and allowed more event permits on Walnut Street—this change gives the local brewery a chance to offer more craft options. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and boosts downtown exposure.  KY3

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Springfield woman is suing Jordan Valley Community Health Center and a former employee after she claims that her and her children’s medical records were improperly accessed and then used to harass her during local gatherings. The lawsuit alleges negligence and intentional emotional distress—details that come after the worker pleaded guilty to misusing records of over 2,500 patients.  Springfield News-Leader

SPORTS NEWS

  • Senior Randy Flint helped Nixa beat state-ranked Carthage 38 to 22 on Friday, September 19 by scoring two touchdowns and returning an interception for 89 yards while running back Jayden McCaster added three touchdowns. Head coach John Perry said Flint is phenomenal and that the team will give him more chances on offense as they work to improve after losing many seniors.  Springfield Daily Citizen
  • Jacob Clark threw three touchdown passes and ran twice as Missouri State beat UT Martin 42-10 last Saturday night—Dash Luke and Shomari Lawrence also made key plays that helped secure the win.  KY3
  • State-ranked Republic beat Kickapoo 54—7 on September 19 as junior Keiran Govan made key plays on offense and defense. Quarterback Preston McCracken threw three touchdowns while running back Owen Klier rushed for 164 yards and scored, and the defense limited Kickapoo to a single touchdown.  Springfield Daily Citizen
