- ➤ Springfield Chick-fil-A at Sunshine and Campbell has donated over 100,000 meals through its Shared Table program—more than 103,000 meals went to the Salvation Army’s Harbor House serving homeless single-parent families. Six other local Chick-fil-A restaurants have donated over 218,000 meals through the program. OzarksFirst.com

- ➤ Two dark sky festivals will take place within a 2.5-hour drive from Springfield; the Arkansas event is planned for Sept. 19-20 near Tyler Bend + it will offer constellation tours, night photography workshops, and talks on light pollution. The Missouri festival will be held Oct. 17-18 at Big Spring + it will include guided star parties, nature walks, and family activities. Springfield Daily Citizen
- ➤ Celebrate Springfield returns this weekend with its 4th annual kickoff event scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 7 from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at Hammons Field — the free, family-friendly festival offers live music, food trucks, interactive booths, a beverage garden, swag bags and a city roadmap under the theme Love Where You Live. - ➤ On Thursday, the Springfield Public Schools Foundation surprised teachers at Truman Elementary by awarding grants for projects that include gardens, class book publishing, and reading clubs. The program awarded 77 grants—totaling over $200,000—to 41 schools and will distribute more awards in December. KSMU

- ➤ The Missouri State University Board of Governors settled lawsuits with former Bears basketball players Abdul Fofana and Reggie Scurry who suffered severe burns in 2018 when a cryotherapy machine was missing its protective platform — Fofana received $295,000 in April and Scurry received $160,000 in July.
