CRIME NEWS

  • Springfield Police are searching for Kaleb Davis, 35, a man with schizophrenia whose car was found abandoned at the Lake Springfield Boathouse on Thursday afternoon—his family said he has a tracking device in his backpack and urged anyone who sees him to call 911.  KY3
  • The Springfield Police Department is searching for Kaleb S. Davis—a 36-year-old man with schizophrenia from Washington whose rented 2005 Nissan Sentra was abandoned at the Springfield Boathouse on August 28 and later went missing—and they ask anyone with information to call 911.  OzarksFirst.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Missouri Department of Conservation announced that dove season starts Sept 1 and runs until Nov 29 — hunters can shoot up to 15 mourning and white-winged doves per day and carry up to 45 in all, while needing proper permits and non-toxic shot during the allowed shooting hours.  OzarksFirst.com
  • Springfield Public Works reports storm debris pickup in Zone 1 is nearly finished as only a few residences remain to sweep. Residents with debris on the curb since August 11 are advised to call the Citizen Resource Center at 864-1010+ Zone 4 sweeps will begin Tuesday, Sept. 2.  KY3
  • Today, Springfield-Branson National Airport continues its flooring project that will disrupt travel for the next seven weeks as passengers must use alternate entrances and face delays at gates 2, 6, and 8—main terminal entrances and parts of the lobby are closed. The airport advises travelers to arrive 15 minutes early—ensuring extra time to navigate the detours.  OzarksFirst.com

  • Today, local high school football teams begin their season as experts Chad Plein and Chris Parker from Ozarks Sports Zone preview matchups and strategies. Missouri State University Bears also begin FBS play—marking a new chapter in their program.  KY3
  • Major League Fishing will hold the REDCREST 2026 Bass Pro Tour Championship at Table Rock Lake from April 17-19—35 top bass professionals will compete for a trophy and a $300,000 prize.
