ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on South Scenic Avenue and West Sunshine Street when a dark gray or silver quad-cab pickup truck pulled in front of the rider around 8 a.m. on Wednesday—Springfield police are now investigating the incident. OzarksFirst.com
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Springfield lawyer Brad Bradshaw filed a lawsuit against Plaza Towers' current and former owners over a rent dispute when his prepaid 2025 rent was not honored amid maintenance issues—he moved his law office to the John Q. Hammons Building and left Plaza Towers by Aug. 18 after receiving a three-day vacate notice on Aug. 1. Springfield Daily Citizen
- ➤ Today, the Better Business Bureau released a study on online gambling scams as Missouri prepares to legalize online gaming and award sports betting to major operators. The report shows that between 2022 and mid-2025 the BBB received nearly 200 scam reports and over 10,000 business complaints (warns consumers to verify licensed sites and read fine print). KY3
- ➤ The south Springfield Macadoodles at 1455 E. Independence St. will reopen in early September under new ownership — full details are pending — while the north Springfield store at 3080 N. Kentwood Ave remains open due to strong performance. Springfield Daily Citizen

- ➤ Springfield-Branson National Airport began its 11-month, $4.5 million flooring project on August 18 by replacing most of the carpet with terrazzo to improve travel for rolling bags—passengers are advised to arrive 15 minutes earlier during construction. - ➤ Mothers Against Drunk Driving Missouri is teaming up with law enforcement for Saturation Saturday to boost checks on drunk driving over Labor Day weekend — 100 departments will coordinate patrols while volunteers help share the 'if you drink, don’t drive' message. KY3
