CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Phelps County Sheriff’s Office is searching for 14-year-old Arabella G. Del Rosario after she disappeared from 12072 County Road in St. James on August 17 following a dispute with her parents—she is known to have depression, bipolar disorder and is in a manic state. KY3
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Beef prices have risen nationwide with steak costs climbing from $7.65 to $11.87 per pound, and Missouri farmers are raising Wagyu beef (it takes three years for a cow to be market-ready) to meet growing demand for premium meat that can cost up to $100 per pound. KY3
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Springfield invited qualified firms to apply as Construction Manager at Risk for a new Regional Convention & Event Center in downtown that will host concerts, tournaments and community gatherings. The $175 million project will use state funds and a local tax vote, and a pre-submittal meeting is scheduled Tuesday, Aug 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Busch Municipal Building — a key step for beginning design work. - ➤ Missouri law requires drivers to stop for school buses when red lights and stop arms are shown on two-lane roads—yellow lights signal an upcoming stop and red lights mean children are boarding. Drivers on multi-lane roads must follow different rules, and violations can lead to fines, jail time, or license suspensions. Springfield News-Leader

- ➤ O’Reilly Auto Parts, founded in Springfield in 1957, will become the title sponsor for NASCAR’s second-tier series when it is renamed next season starting Jan. 1 through a multiyear deal that includes promotional opportunities with The CW Network — a move that deepens its ties with NASCAR fans. - ➤ The Springfield Cardinals have reached a 72-42 record using their rare group of left-handed pitchers—Brycen Mautz, Ixan Henderson and Pete Hansen—even after losing key players to injuries and promotions.
