- ➤ Students and families received free school supplies and backpacks at a back-to-school block party in Springfield on Saturday morning, hosted by Central Assembly of God in partnership with Convoy of Hope and Evangel University+ the event provided free groceries, food, and essential supplies for students at local schools. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Springfield police confirmed that a car driven by 34-year-old Tyler Reid struck two pedestrians on Friday night on the 3200 block of W. Chestnut Expwy at 9 p.m.—killing 56-year-old Ronnie Wake while injuring the other pedestrian. KY3
- ➤ Stone County Fire Protection District used an underwater drone to recover the body of a 16-year-old boy from Panama who drowned in Table Rock Lake on August 14 while he was in town for the Babe Ruth World Series at Sho-Me Baseball— the drone can dive 300 feet and shows underwater hazards near docks. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Central High School announced Friday that its varsity football season is canceled due to low upperclassmen numbers and safety concerns—this change affects players, cheerleaders, and the Bulldog community as the team practices as junior varsity today.
