- ➤ Anheuser-Busch released new Bud Light cans that show the Missouri State Bears logo at an event in Springfield last Wednesday. - ➤ Springfield's Ozarks Genealogical Society is closing its library building to focus funds on helping people learn about family history as more researchers use online tools. - ➤ Katelyn Zach, a local community organizer with experience in campaigns and nonprofit work, has announced her bid for House District 133 in southwest Springfield as incumbent Melanie Stinnett leaves to seek a state Senate seat. Zach said she plans to focus on affordable housing, quality education, and healthcare—issues that have grown important after district redistricting made the race more competitive ahead of the 2026 elections. - ➤ Mercy warned the public on Aug 2 about a scam where callers falsely claimed to represent the hospital to steal personal information—patients are advised to hang up and contact the hospital directly if they receive suspicious calls.
