  • Springfield’s Annual Park Day Reunion takes place this weekend at Silver Springs Park and features live music, sports, food, and family activities—an event that honors the park’s legacy as a welcoming space during segregation and brings multiple generations together.  KY3

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Anheuser-Busch released new Bud Light cans that show the Missouri State Bears logo at an event in Springfield last Wednesday. The cans, made by Missouri State University—along with Anheuser-Busch and Wil Fischer Companies who ordered 25,000 cases—will be sold at local retailers and at MSU games.  OzarksFirst.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Springfield's Ozarks Genealogical Society is closing its library building to focus funds on helping people learn about family history as more researchers use online tools. Members will hold Zoom and in-person meetings and have donated part of their book collection to a historical center (available for interlibrary loans nationwide).  KY3

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Katelyn Zach, a local community organizer with experience in campaigns and nonprofit work, has announced her bid for House District 133 in southwest Springfield as incumbent Melanie Stinnett leaves to seek a state Senate seat. Zach said she plans to focus on affordable housing, quality education, and healthcare—issues that have grown important after district redistricting made the race more competitive ahead of the 2026 elections.  Springfield Daily Citizen

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mercy warned the public on Aug 2 about a scam where callers falsely claimed to represent the hospital to steal personal information—patients are advised to hang up and contact the hospital directly if they receive suspicious calls. The hospital also urged anyone who receives dubious mailings, such as genetic testing kits, to report them immediately.  OzarksFirst.com
