- ➤ Roseann Bentley, a former educator and Missouri state senator, died Monday, July 14 at her home in Springfield at age 89. - ➤ Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe signed SB 28 on July 2, which changes temporary tag rules so that trade-in cars with loans receive a 30-day tag and drivers must pay sales tax at the dealership+the law goes into effect Aug. 28 and new dealership systems for paying tax are expected by early 2026. - ➤ Springfield City Council unanimously approved an amendment that allows the Doran family to access their historical cemetery 12 days a year through a gated road following tense negotiations with the developer of Hidden Gem Estates near Evans Road. - ➤ Gov. Mike Kehoe signed Senate Bill 63 to let home-schooled students try out for sports and other activities in local school districts with tryouts and attendance rules. MSHSAA sent new guidelines on July 15 — fall events will begin on August 11 with the first contest on August 29. KY3

- ➤ Missouri is asking residents to email public comments today on legal sports betting and to attend a public meeting in Jefferson City tomorrow at 10 a.m.—the applications for mobile licenses were due Tuesday, and the first licenses will be awarded next month so betting can begin by Dec. 1. KY3
- ➤ Missouri State baseball players Jake McCutcheon and Nick Rodriguez were drafted on Monday in the 10th round (by the Marlins and the Angels) after a slow start turned into a strong finish that helped the Bears win a share of the Missouri Valley Conference title.
