- ➤ Community Partnership of the Ozarks will offer a free series of budgeting courses called Making Sense of Money starting Thursday, July 10 from 6-7 p.m. at the Drew Lewis Foundation at The Fairbanks on North Broadway, and participants may get a $100 savings match, a $50 credit to their utility bill, plus a chance to open a zero-fee savings account — free dinner and childcare are provided upon registration. - ➤ The Child Advocacy Center is moving to a new building at 1414 W. Elfindale St. to handle rising service needs and longer wait times (from six to ten days) and will complete its relocation in early August while renaming the facility after Dr. John P. Ferguson. OzarksFirst.com
- ➤ Today, the Child Advocacy Center announced it will move to a larger facility at 1414 Elfindale St in August to lower wait times for kids needing support during abuse investigations—having raised $5 million of the $8 million needed. - ➤ Springfield City Council received a report on a potential downtown convention and event center that could help the city make up for nearly $125,114 lost each day. Mark Hecquet and Mayor Schrag said the council will review the study— which includes a possible state contribution of $30 million— and plan next steps while keeping the venue useful for both locals and visitors, though no official decision has been made yet.
