- ➤ On Friday, Greene County deputies stopped by 11-year-old Tre Asbell’s lemonade stand in downtown Springfield where he served refreshing drinks. Tre uses the funds he raises to help his 4-year-old brother with cerebral palsy—last year he raised over $3,000 for a special chair and now hopes to gather enough for an upcoming surgery and a birthday fireworks show. - ➤ Ozarks Farm Stop announced plans to open a year-round market in downtown Springfield where local farmers will sell high-quality food and handmade goods while retaining over 70% of each sale—this store will operate six days a week and host workshops and tastings as part of its summer launch. The new market aims to connect the community with sustainable local agriculture in a dedicated retail space. OzarksFirst.com

- ➤ Volunteers gathered at the James River for the annual River Rescue Cleanup, picking up trash from Shelvin Rock Access to Hootentown Campground after heavy floods; Brent Stock from the James River Basin Partnership said the cleanup shows how storms can wash debris into the river — people without boats could borrow canoes to join the effort. - ➤ The Missouri Department of Natural Resources issued an advisory for the Harry S Truman State Park public day-use beach after tests found nearly four times the safe E. coli level—rainfall and Canadian geese may have raised the bacteria count. The beach remains open and visitors must decide if they want to swim. KY3

- ➤ Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe requested federal disaster declarations after two severe storm systems damaged homes, businesses, and public infrastructure in eight counties in southwest Missouri this spring. He asked for an SBA Disaster Declaration for low-interest disaster loans for Greene, Lawrence, and Newton counties from the April 29 storms and a Major Disaster Declaration for repairing public infrastructure in Dade, Douglas, Ozark, Vernon, and Webster counties—both requests made on June 21. - ➤ On Saturday, Springfield HVAC technician Jayden Underwood worked long hours during high temperatures that put outdoor workers at risk. He urged workers to drink water, keep ice in their trucks, and take breaks to stay safe. KY3
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ In May, Greene County home listings rose in price with the median listing reaching $339,500, up 4.8% from April and new listings increasing by 9.1% from May last year. Homes stayed on the market for 42 days on average, had a median size of 1,884 square feet, and were listed at $172 per square foot+ these figures only include properties for sale. - ➤ On June 20, four Springfield pitchers combined to throw the team's first nine-inning no-hitter in a 1-0 win over Corpus Christi at Hammons Field+ Top prospect Tink Hence pitched 4⅓ innings while Zane Mills worked 2⅔ innings to secure the win after Darlin Moquette’s RBI drove in the only run before 4,763 fans watched the historic game.
