COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, more than a dozen nonprofits in Springfield received $907,374 in grants from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, the Jeannette L. Musgrave Foundation and U.S. Bank Private Wealth Management to support projects in affordable housing, civic education and capital improvements. The awards include three multi-year programs and additional capital project funds that may total over $1.9 million if recipients meet renewal guidelines — a move to address long-term local needs. KY3
- ➤ Four Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers from Troop G delivered a birthday gift to Jacob, aged 10, in Willow Springs as part of Operation Birthday—his family said he has a rare genetic disorder and a strong love for police, and he was surprised to receive a trooper’s hat. KY3
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police are investigating shots fired at a closed Steak ‘n Shake on South Campbell Avenue in Springfield on Tuesday morning — officers found several bullets and shell casings — and the suspect reportedly left on a skateboard. KY3
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Springfield officials broke ground on the Historic City Hall rehabilitation project on June 17 as demolition ended and construction began on a $23.24 million facelift for the 131-year-old building. The project—designed to preserve historic elements while adding modern offices, ADA improvements, and new systems—is on budget and scheduled for fall. Springfield Daily Citizen
- ➤ Juneteenth—celebrating the end of slavery—is a state holiday in Missouri observed on June 19. State offices will be closed on that day, or if it falls on a weekend, on the Friday before or Monday after—communities plan events to honor the day. Springfield News-Leader

The Midwest Hemophilia Association will host their annual walk Saturday, June, 28, 2025, from 4:00 - 7:00pm at Springfield Botanical Garden in Nathanael-Green Park.
