- ➤ Downtown Springfield Association announced that the 2025 Taste of SoMo event, originally set for June 21st, is postponed to the fall — local restaurants will have more time to plan amid rising costs. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ In a Greene County courtroom, Richard Gillette entered an Alford plea for charges including theft and deceptive business practices and paid $107,293.29 in full restitution to affected customers—officials say all victims who filed complaints will be fully refunded and he is now on three year probation with a ban from accepting upfront consumer payments. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The History Museum on the Square will open a temporary exhibit called Roadside Gems: Rediscovering Route 66’s Cultural Attractions on July 2 to show the unique stops along Route 66 until September 14. The exhibit is the fourth part of a five-part series that will lead up to the national Centennial Celebration in Springfield in 2026 — regular museum admission covers entry. OzarksFirst.com
- ➤ Springfield is set to kick off the national celebration of Route 66’s 100th anniversary next year—2026. The state board has received over $3 million in grants to upgrade parts of the highway and add new memorial structures along the historic route. KY3

- ➤ Social media posts raised concerns about Mayor Jeff Schrag’s wearing a Mother’s Brewing shirt during a May 27 meeting because he owns a small share in the firm. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ CoxHealth and St. Louis Children's Hospital finalized an agreement to expand pediatric care in southwest Missouri—with input from community members and local clinicians. The plan will build a new pediatric hospital at CoxHealth and an outpatient center at 851 E. Primrose Street, with services opening in 2027—reducing the need for families to travel far for care. KY3
