- ➤ A Springfield man, Brandon Huddleston (26) pleaded guilty on June 5 to second-degree murder for fatally shooting his girlfriend, Lacey Nix (32), on Nov. 13 during an argument over money stolen from Spin City. Springfield Daily Citizen

- ➤ Jamie Birch, who served as policy director for Gov. Mike Kehoe, will become chief of staff and assistant to the president at Missouri State University and will start on June 24. - ➤ The Springfield National Weather Service confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down at the Body of Christ church on the southwest side and tracked through Wheaton before dissipating a half mile northeast. The tornado left a damage path over 3 miles long and up to 100 yards wide with winds estimated at 85 mph. OzarksFirst.com
