- ➤ Today, Watching Over Whiskers in Springfield, overwhelmed with intakes during National Adopt a Cat Month, is asking local residents to volunteer, foster, or adopt cats to help care for its 250 adoptable cats and additional feral colonies through Trap-Neuter-Return. Founder Marci Bowling said volunteers are needed to help with tasks like cleaning and social media—efforts that support the rescue’s commitment to comprehensive animal care. KY3

- ➤ Missouri lawmakers passed a bill that allows homeschool students to join public school sports and extracurricular activities starting in August—after more than 12 years of advocacy by families and state officials.
