- ➤ The Springfield-Greene County Library District answered questions about its funding and services after a public survey. It explained that its operations are driven mainly by property taxes from Greene County residents (averaging around $90 per household) and that any service changes would need voter approval. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ One Springfield resident is breaking the stigma of schizophrenia by leading a peer support group with the National Alliance of Mental Health Southwest Missouri and volunteering with the Ozarks Area Crisis Intervention Team during Mental Health Awareness Month (in its final week), to dispel myths linking the illness with violence. - ➤ Nixa's Peyton Burbridge won the state golf championship at Missouri Country Club by finishing with a 69 in chilly, rainy conditions. He overcame injuries and doubts all season and now plans to study sports medicine at Drury. Springfield Daily Citizen
- ➤ Missouri State’s baseball Bears lost 7-5 to Liberty in a rain-delayed C-USA Tournament semifinal in Kennesaw (Ga) on Sunday but will head to the NCAA Tournament next week. - ➤ Strafford sprinters earned four medals at the Class 3 state track meet on Saturday at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City, boosting the team with a state championship in the 4x200 relay. - ➤ Kickapoo earned its first state quarterfinal in four years after Camden Lassley pitched a complete game shutout with a 1-0 win against Ozark on May 22. The Chiefs will host Blue Springs South in a three-game series starting Friday, May 29. Springfield Daily Citizen
