- ➤ A woman riding her bicycle was hit by a car at the West Bypass and College Street intersection on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.—she was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. KY3
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Artsfest on Historic Walnut Street drew artists, performers and crowds on May 3rd under cool weather, featuring over 100 art displays, live music and food, while the festival continued May 4th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with $5 tickets available and free admission for kids 5 and under plus a variety of performances. - ➤ Attorney John K. Hulston donated 1,750 books to the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield library, and the library was named in honor of him and his wife Ruth — the volumes were purchased from retired archivist Gilbert Knipmeyer to support research. Springfield News-Leader

- ➤ Sherwood Elementary teacher Danielle O'Neil was named Teacher of the Year for Springfield Public Schools at the Celebrate SPS event Friday—she will now advance to the regional contest for Missouri Teacher of the Year.
