- ➤ Bob Brooks’ home in Springfield was damaged when a 60-foot Oak tree fell on it during Tuesday morning’s heavy storms — the tree hit his roof and collapsed his patio. He now plans to have home restoration companies assess the damage and schedule repairs. KY3
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A multi-industry hiring event is taking place today at the Missouri Job Center's new building at 1660 North Campbell Ave — more than 25 employers including Bass Pro Shops, the City of Springfield, and CoxHealth will meet with job seekers. Attendees should bring copies of their resume — and the fair runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. KY3
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Severe storms on Tuesday morning caused thousands of homes to lose power in southwest Missouri, with outages ranging from 63 to 4,590 customers in counties like Greene and Webster. The Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives said updates will be provided as storms continue across the Ozarks—many residents may see more outages. OzarksFirst.com
- ➤ Springfield was hit by a severe thunderstorm Tuesday morning, April 29, that brought winds up to 90 mph, downed trees and power lines, and blocked roads across the city. City crews began damage surveys and cleared debris—and officials advised residents to use caution on hazardous roadways—with forecasts predicting additional severe weather later this week.
