- ➤ Missouri Disabled Sportsmen helped hunters with disabilities and volunteers join the spring turkey season near Marionville on Friday. The group used special gear — including phone scopes, straw-fired guns and track chairs that let hunters stand — to make hunting safer and more fun for everyone. KY3
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Former Plaza Towers owner Marco Denis will face trial in early July after a judge struck down key parts of his defense during a pretrial hearing on April 22, and Denis—who has been in jail since last summer—had his trial, initially set for April 28, delayed. Springfield Daily Citizen

- ➤ Springfield’s first Friday Art Walk will be held in downtown the night before Artsfest, offering gallery openings, live music, student exhibits and a veteran art exhibit at the Gillioz Theatre — organizers noted a unique fashion collection from reclaimed neckties. - ➤ Springfield Contemporary Theatre's farce 'POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying To Keep Him Alive' opened on April 24 and will run until May 4 at the Historic Fox Theatre on Park Central Square. - ➤ The Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks meets monthly in Springfield at The Library Center on S. Campbell Ave to study and discuss the Civil War. Founded in 1960 with around 50 members from different backgrounds, the group offers social gatherings with snacks and presentations—bringing local family history together—each month. - ➤ Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe proposed adding $50 million to the MoScholars scholarship program to allow private school and home-schooled students to access funds—reporters from KY3 and Beacon News Service said the plan is part of a broader education spending initiative announced on April 25th. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Curtis Jared, owner of a Springfield billboard company, was fined $21,500 by the Missouri Ethics Commission on April 18 for unregistered in-kind contributions—he made $7,500 donations supporting Maryam Mohammadkhani, Landon McCarter and Chad Rollins in the 2024 school board race. He may have the rest of the fine waived if he pays $2,150 within 45 days and avoids further campaign violations. Springfield Daily Citizen
