- ➤ Springfield Rotary Clubs from Downtown, Southeast and North unveiled new equipment for Crosslines Community Outreach on Tuesday, April 22+ including a refrigerated truck to serve as a mobile food pantry for families without reliable transportation. Matched donations doubled funds and also paid for floor scrubbers and a forklift+ which will improve the nonprofit’s daily operations and help fight hunger. Springfield Daily Citizen
- ➤ A woman rescued a senior dog that was dumped along U.S. 65 in Springfield — her strong effort to save the pet was reported by KY3’s Leigh Moody — showing her clear determination. KY3

- ➤ Missouri State safety Todric McGee died after his gun accidentally discharged inside his residence at 520 E. Cherry St—detectives said the bullet struck him during a well-being check—and friends held a balloon release outside Plaster Stadium on April 21 to honor his life. Springfield Daily Citizen
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Springfield has been named the national host for the kickoff of America’s Route 66 Centennial Celebration in 2026 after being selected by the U.S. National Route 66 Centennial Commission and the Road Ahead Partnership. The kickoff concert will take place at the Historic Shrine Mosque on April 30 — more festivities will be announced later. KY3
- ➤ Molly Healey, a Springfield musician and teacher, is co-producing the fourth annual Earth Day Festival at Jordan Valley Park on April 26 — the event will feature music from noon until about 8 p.m. She is also booking additional gigs and offering violin, cello and guitar lessons at her east side home while preparing to perform with the Ozark Mountain Daredevils in November. - ➤ LEGO fans will gather at the Springfield Expo Center on May 10 and 11 for the first LEGO convention in town — the event will feature professional LEGO artists, live builds, and meet-and-greets with LEGO celebrities while a portion of ticket sales supports Creations for Charity. OzarksFirst.com
