BUSINESS NEWS

  • Pizza House owner Stacy Schneider will open 330 Frozen Treats at 330 E. CULTURE NEWS

  • Springfield native actor Brent Huff will receive a star on the Missouri Walk of Fame during the Cherry Blossom Festival in Marshfield this weekend + he will also participate in the Nostalgia Fest Autograph Show.  KY3
  • The Springfield Art Museum nears completion of Phase I renovations and expansion ahead of its 100th anniversary in 2028. City Council awarded $30 million to fund the project, and free construction tours (first Tuesday and last Saturday monthly until September starting April 25) will let visitors see progress firsthand.  KY3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Stone County Library opened a new branch in Reeds Spring during National Library Week from April 19 to 25; it offers limited service on Mondays, Thursdays and the first Saturday, with unique features like check-out of pickleball paddles & a telescope as officials plan potential hour expansions based on demand.  KY3
  • The University of Missouri School of Medicine announced its Springfield campus will expand to a full four-year program starting summer 2027, reaching 128 students by 2030 and partnering with CoxHealth and Mercy Springfield Communities to boost health care access (applications open in May).  Springfield News-Leader

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Springfield-Branson National Airport installed six electric vehicle charging stations in its new short-term parking lot, and drivers will pay $0.35 per kWh for fast charging. HEALTH NEWS

  • Doctors warn that warmer weather brings more outdoor activities and an increased risk of tick bites causing fevers, aches, and allergic reactions from Lone Star ticks.   • Greene County has recorded 9 suicide deaths so far in 2026, and officials urge community members to call 988 for crisis support & early intervention. The Missouri Department of Health stresses noticing behavior changes to help prevent further losses.  KY3
