- ➤ Charity Fent, a self-taught baker known for her fondant decoration, opened her brick-and-mortar cake design store at Brentwood Shopping Center (2648 S. Glenstone Ave.) on May 5, 2021. - ➤ Missouri State University will honor distinguished alumni on April 25 at the Bears of Distinction dinner held at the Christopher S. Bond Learning Center at the William H. Darr Agricultural Center—tickets are $40 and nominations for the 2027 awards are now open. Springfield News-Leader
- ➤ University of Missouri-Columbia will launch a new four-year medical school at a site off Battlefield Road near Highway 65 with help from CoxHealth and Mercy Springfield.
