- ➤ In early returns Tuesday, Sarah Hough and Gail Smart held a slim lead over Kelly Byrne and David Myers in the race for two Springfield school board seats; the winners will be sworn in on April 15 and serve three-year terms—candidates have highlighted their local experience and endorsements. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting April 10, Boonville Avenue at the Water Street intersection will close for two weeks to let City Utilities install a new water main and set up detours. On April 11, the right lane on Campbell Avenue from Olive to Phelps will close until April 25 and the segment from Water to Mill will close entirely on April 28 for six months—allowing crews to build a new bridge and update utilities. - ➤ Bruce Adib-Yazdi beat incumbent Councilmember Matthew Simpson with 57.16% of the vote for the Zone 4 seat in southeast Springfield—he will be sworn in at 6:30 p.m. on April 21 at the Springfield Regional Police and Fire Training Center, and he plans to work with local neighborhood groups on long-range projects. - ➤ Greene County voters cast ballots on April 8 in Springfield’s municipal election to choose a new mayor, four City Council members and two School Board candidates. Early results show mayoral candidate Jeff Schrag leads Mary Collette at 57.65% to 42.35% while Councilmember Heather Hardinger leads her contest against Eric Pauly and Bruce Adib—Yazdi is ahead of incumbent Matthew Simpson in Zone 4 as vote counts remain in progress. - ➤ Heather Hardinger was re-elected to Springfield City Council after beating challenger Eric Pauly with 60% of the vote—she said she is excited to work on affordable housing in Springfield—and she will serve for the next four years. KSMU
- ➤ Early results show entrepreneur Jeff Schrag leading Mary Collette with 57.6% of votes counted from 30 of 76 precincts, making him the likely new mayor of Springfield since Mayor Ken McClure reached his term limit. Schrag, known for founding Mother's Brewing Company—he raised about $160,000 in campaign donations—will be sworn in at the City Council meeting on April 21. Springfield News-Leader
