  • Volunteers are needed Saturday, Apr. 11 from noon to 2 p.m. to clean a stretch of Route 66 between Glenstone Avenue and Chestnut Expressway (registration required) at the Hammons Field parking lot as part of the Clean Green Springfield program.  KY3
  • A local volunteer rescued a badly injured cat on Tuesday, Apr. 7 in Springfield (as reported by KY3).  KY3

CULTURE NEWS

  • Retired U-2 pilot Glenn Whicker will share his Cold War experiences at the Air and Military Museum of the Ozarks (2305 E. Kearney St.) at 10 a.m. on April 11, describing how he flew major Soviet aircraft and led U.S. escorts for Soviet crews.  Springfield News-Leader

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Central High Kilties will mark 100 years with a series of reunion events that include a history walk at school on April 10, a pancake breakfast and performance on April 11, and a downtown show with an alumnae reception on April 12. HEALTH NEWS

  • CoxHealth held a Donate Life flag-raising ceremony on Tuesday outside its north entrance on South National Avenue to honor organ donors in Springfield. Hospital officials noted that donations have saved 60 lives and enhanced almost 10,000 lives.  KY3
