- ➤ UScellular announced it will cut about 4,100 jobs nationwide, including in Missouri, when its wireless operation is sold to T-Mobile; job cuts will begin on June 2 as T-Mobile plans to offer most affected workers new positions. KY3
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City will hold three guided tours of the Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill this month — April 17 from 1 to 3 p.m., April 22 from 9 to 11 a.m. and April 30 from 10 to noon — to let residents learn how the facility manages waste and boosts recycling efforts. KSMU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Friday morning, officials held a groundbreaking ceremony at a church along the interstate in Springfield to start $70.7 million improvements to I-44—moved indoors due to rain, the event featured a quick bucket dirt-dump to mark the beginning. The project will add a third lane in each direction, replace three bridges, and include a pedestrian underpass with trail upgrades between Highways 13 and 65. KSMU
- ➤ The Greene County Highway Department has 23 full-time vacancies that cut its mower fleet in half for the mowing season starting later this month — crews will mow only a single pass along the roadway right of way before finishing cleanup in winter to keep drivers and pedestrians safe. KY3
