- ➤ In 1959, road crews replaced the last of the old brick paving along Grand Street from Campbell to National as part of the second phase of a city-county street improvement program—crews closed the section between Campbell and Kimbrough to lay down new asphaltic concrete, an event now recalled through a historical photograph from a local archive. - ➤ First responders in southwest Missouri have been stretched over the past 48 hours by flash floods and severe weather; officials said water reached four to five inches on Highway 125 today and many calls came in after lightning strikes—city officials closed Finley River Park in Ozark as floodwaters impacted roadways near Farm Roads 99, 103 and 186, forcing some residents to stay home—emergency crews continue to work in the affected areas.
