- ➤ The Springfield Art Museum and Guaranty Bank will host a free symphonic rock concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Phelps Grove Park — five finalists for the Small Business Award were also named with panel and award events set on May 8 and 28. The police department promoted 11 officers on April 2, Assistant Director Kim Reser will retire on April 30 after 27 years, and Capital Holding Group in Ozark will launch a $29.5 million expansion to add 29 jobs — moves that show ongoing local progress. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MoDOT representatives and lawmakers broke ground on the I-44 Forward Project Friday morning in Springfield — the project will add a third lane for I-44 between U.S. 65 and the Kansas Expressway, replace three bridges and make other improvements, with crews set to finish by 2027 — though lawmakers warned of expected traffic backups during construction.
