CRIME NEWS

  • The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is searching for 21-year-old Colin Mar (armed and dangerous, Hispanic, 6'11″ and 170 pounds) in connection with a homicide investigation and urges anyone in Pulaski, Phelps and Springfield areas to call (573-774-6196) if he is seen.  KY3
  • Springfield police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early Saturday when 19-year-old Isaiah Sanchez lost control of his 1997 Honda CRV near Subway on Glenstone Avenue, killing him and his passenger Alexis Norman—authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.  Springfield News-Leader

  • Springfield-Greene County Library District will host One Community, One Read by inviting teens and adults to read The House in the Cerulean Sea and meet author TJ Klune at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center. Participants may purchase a copy or bring their own — the event is free with no tickets required.  Springfield News-Leader

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a candidate forum hosted by the Springfield NAACP on Saturday, all four school board candidates supported reinstating annualized pay for hourly workers after the district ended the practice in 2023 following employee complaints and legal advice. Candidates Byrne, Hough and Smart said a choice would help the lowest-paid employees manage income fluctuations—while candidate Myers, who missed the forum due to military duty, also backed the option.  Springfield News-Leader
