- ➤ A Nixa mom named Amy Hamilton asked for help on Facebook after her son, Zach, said he only had one classmate he felt comfortable with, and the community answered by turning his birthday party at a local park on Saturday into a friend-making event—more than 52 kids came and a classic car parade added to the celebration. The event gave many kids a chance to connect over similar struggles. KY3
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, a car crashed into a Subway restaurant sign on Glenstone near East Delmar Street at 2:21 a.m. — leaving two people dead and prompting police to close northbound lanes for several hours as they investigated the cause. KY3
- ➤ A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash with a car on S. Campbell Avenue near Broadmoor Street on Saturday afternoon—Springfield Police closed the road for an investigation. KY3
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ In the Zone 4 race for Springfield City Council, incumbent Matt Simpson and challenger Bruce Adib-Yazdi offer different visions for addressing the southeast's contested development projects—Simpson, who serves as mayor pro tem and emphasizes public safety, relies on his record while Adib-Yazdi will use his 20 years of architectural experience, and voters will decide the seat on Tuesday, April 8.
