ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A person died in an accident on March 24 at Springfield’s Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill — the site at 3545 W. Farm Road 34 is closed as officials await notification of next of kin. Springfield Daily Citizen
- ➤ One person died after an accident at Springfield’s Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill Monday afternoon—city officials said the site along Highway 13 will remain closed while fire crews responded. KY3
- ➤ The Springfield Fire Department is handling a house fire on West Cherokee Street with four trucks on scene—no one was home and the fire was contained to the room where it began with no injuries or property damage reported. OzarksFirst.com
- ➤ On Saturday, March 22, a crash at the intersection of Fremont Avenue and Buena Vista Street killed 37-year-old David Rodgers and seriously injured 36-year-old Alyssa Loveland—Springfield Police are investigating the incident—and officials are asking anyone with details to come forward. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The 14th annual Queen City Shout kicks off today in Springfield and will feature live music, film, poetry, visual art, and dance exhibitions at venues in downtown, Rountree, and along Commercial Street through March 30. Ticket prices are $15 for a day and $30 for the full week (money raised supports local poverty relief). KY3
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ During Monday night’s council meeting, Springfield banned lane splitting—police can now ticket motorcycle, bicycle, and scooter riders who pass between vehicles—and formed a Citizens’ Advisory Board to advise on spending tax funds for capital improvements. The council also passed a resolution to boost access to fresh food in food deserts, especially in the western part of the city. KY3
