- ➤ Firefighters rescued a resident in a house fire on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in the 300 block of South New near Missouri State University and transported the victim to a local hospital while investigators worked to determine the cause amid high winds. KY3

- ➤ Mother’s Brewing opened a new restaurant called The Bread Box in February at 215 S. Grant Ave in its 40,000-square-foot warehouse; the space offers small bites with beer and consolidates its coffee operations for private events—helping to ease taproom crowding during bad weather. - ➤ A 9-year-old male Malayan tiger named Cinta, born in California, joins Dickerson Park Zoo as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ species survival plan—he is acclimating to his new home and is not yet on exhibit. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ CU is working to restore power today in Springfield as high winds damage utility poles and bring trees down onto power lines, leaving more than two dozen areas without service and several hundred customers affected. - ➤ On March 18, the City Council approved a deal with BNSF to raise the Jefferson Avenue footbridge by three feet using $2 million, and construction will begin in April. The project—set to add about three months to the overall timeline—will finish in early 2026 with new elevators and rehabilitated structure, all while keeping the bridge's historic look.
