- ➤ Builders celebrated the completion of the floors in the 2025 St. Jude Dream Home in Springfield when KY3’s Leigh Moody, Rob Macko and others signed the floor on Tuesday at 2903 West Teton Drive — a project that marks the 21st year of the annual fundraiser benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ The Wheelhouse — known for its Thai and Mexican fusion — will leave its current East Sunshine St. location and open a smaller, renovated restaurant downtown in summer 2025. Co-owner Lijah Sparlin said the business will rebrand and hire new chefs while closing its current spot and simultaneously launching the new space once renovations finish in three to five months. - ➤ The 14th Annual Queen City Shout festival will run from March 24th to 30th and feature over 100 live performances in music, film, art, dance and poetry at several Springfield venues — including Historic C-street, Downtown and Rountree. Tickets cost $15 for a single-day pass and each purchase helps nonprofit partners support poverty relief in the Ozarks. Springfield Daily Citizen
- ➤ The Ozarks Lyric Opera will hold its Opera Rocks show on Saturday, March 22 at the Gillioz Theatre downtown — a live event with a band made up of 10 members and local guest musicians playing rock, pop and soul covers. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. — limited tickets remain and free valet parking is available. Springfield Daily Citizen
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, Missouri State University’s Board of Governors executive committee will meet at 4 p.m. to consider selecting JE Dunn Construction—whose bid is $22,877,374—to build the new Clifton M. Smart Advancement Center that will host alumni events and house key departments. If approved, a groundbreaking ceremony will be scheduled soon and the 28,000-square-foot center is expected to be completed in fall, using funds from the sale of the current alumni center and donations. - ➤ Since Jan 1, Missouri troopers issued 336 tickets under the hands-free law to drivers using their phones while driving — 67 of those in Springfield. The law permits only hands-free devices like Bluetooth and Apple Play and aims to reduce distracted driving incidents. KY3
- ➤ A statewide poll of 900 likely voters from Feb 18 to March 2 shows mixed opinions on proposals such as eliminating the state income tax, banning cellphones during school, and restricting foreign social media, with support varying by party and region. Voters backed digital literacy lessons and local police control while over 80% rated the national economy as fair or poor—reflecting deep policy and economic concerns. Springfield News-Leader

- ➤ Today the Community Foundation of the Ozarks — in partnership with the Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation and Commerce Trust — awarded $250K to 12 school districts, school foundations and nonprofits in rural areas across central and southern Missouri to expand youth mental health programs.
