  • Kickapoo won the district title on Friday by beating Nixa 45 to 36 at Republic High School + senior guard Josie Salazar led with 17 points as the Chiefs will face Lee’s Summit West on March 13 at 6 p.m. at Joplin High School.  Springfield Daily Citizen
  • Hillcrest boys basketball won the Class 5 District 6 championship on Saturday, March 7 in Willard when junior guard Kyrese Simpson hit a game-winning layup with 3.7 seconds left, setting the team up to face Helias Catholic in the state quarterfinal at Nixa High School on March 14.  Springfield Daily Citizen
  • Missouri State's Michael Osei-Bonsu played his final home game on Saturday at Great Southern Bank Arena, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in a 75-63 loss to Middle Tennessee State; the Bears now prepare for their next C-USA Tournament game against Florida International on Tuesday in Huntsville (5:30 p.m.).  Springfield Daily Citizen
  • Kickapoo avenged last season's loss with a 64-49 win over Nixa at Hall of Fame Court Saturday. Will Winn and Brock Thompson led the Chiefs, who now advance to a March 14 state quarterfinal at Joplin High.  Springfield Daily Citizen
  • Strafford's Kinley Larsen scored 26 of her game-high 31 points as her team won 75-68 over Logan-Rogersville in the Class 4 District 10 championship game on Friday, motivated by her injured sister's early exit. Strafford will play Boonville in the sectional round at Lebanon High School on Monday, March 9.  Springfield Daily Citizen
