- ➤ Springfield residents can enjoy a packed March full of events from Seuss Science Day at the YMCA on March 7 to a St. Patrick's Day parade on March 14 and family egg hunts, comedy shows, and more at local venues. Springfield News-Leader
- ➤ The Ozarks Alliance to End Homelessness launched a five-year strategic plan on Feb. 27 that uses three pillars—community support, resilience and education—to reduce homelessness in Greene, Christian and Webster counties through 2030. The plan aims to make homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring. Springfield News-Leader
- ➤ Springfield earned a bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community designation today from the League of American Bicyclists, marking 15 years of efforts to make cycling safer. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, March 1, firefighters responded to a blaze at Pebblecreek Apartments on South Fort Avenue where nearly 40 firefighters helped treat three injured residents and assist 30 displaced occupants; the cause remains under investigation. Springfield News-Leader
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The George Washington Carver National Monument in Diamond honors the agricultural scientist and inventor born to enslaved parents—a tribute to his groundbreaking work in farming and innovation. Springfield News-Leader
- ➤ Historical documents left Washington, D.C. on Monday aboard the Freedom Plane and will arrive in Kansas City on Friday for free public display at the National WWI Museum and Memorial, part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration (including the Treaty of Paris and a draft Constitution).
