  • SWI Industrial Solutions in Springfield is preparing orders for 13 million Sunny Bunny easter eggs to meet national demand, working extra Saturdays to prevent a shortage before Easter while also supporting people with disabilities.  KY3

EDUCATION NEWS

  • More than 130 Missouri schools have been denied permission to start classes early as state law limits start dates to no more than 14 days before the first Monday in September. Districts like Nixa Public Schools face challenges adjusting calendars — Walnut Grove teachers must revisit lesson plans.  KY3

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield is planning prescribed burns that will affect up to 440 acres from Feb. 14 to March 15 with temporary closures and possible smoke impacts on visitors. The burns aim to remove invasive species and improve the historic landscape.  Springfield News-Leader

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health inspectors found two live cockroaches in the women's restroom at *Bubba's BBQ* on Feb. 5, and a follow-up inspection on Feb. 9 confirmed the issue was resolved in Springfield.  Springfield News-Leader

  • Data from Zumper shows that rental prices in Springfield increased about 6% since last year, with median listings rising from $1,126 to $1,195 in January. The trend spans all unit sizes, with one-bedroom rates growing slightly from $900 to $929.  Springfield News-Leader
