- ➤ The Willard Schools Board appointed Chad Mathes, lead pastor at Red Tree Church, to fill a vacant seat after Wes Burrell left; he will be sworn in on Feb. 19. Meanwhile, suburban school boards extended superintendent contracts and Republic named Tyler Overstreet as its new leader after Matt Pearce retired. Springfield Daily Citizen
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Missouri lawmaker Jason Bean introduced a bill on Feb. 3 to shift control of high school sports from MSHSAA to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The Senate bill, set for consideration on Feb. 9, would end self-rule (724 schools) and change how sports decisions are made. KY3
- ➤ Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe and First Lady Claudia Kehoe joined Care to Learn's Shop with a Hero event today at the Walmart Supercenter on North Kansas Expressway — helping 185 Springfield Public Schools elementary students receive $100 each for health, hunger, and hygiene products. KY3
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Realtor.com data show that in November 2025, single-family home median sale prices in Greene County dropped to $228,750 (a 9.6% decrease from October) while condominiums and townhomes rose 4% and overall residential sales totaled $125.2 million. Springfield News-Leader
