COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Residents can submit neighborhood improvement ideas until Jan. 31 through the expanded Neighborhood Works+ program by using an online form or visiting the Busch Municipal Building. City staff will review the over 360 submissions and plan workshops to prioritize projects that may start construction in fall 2026. Springfield News-Leader
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Springfield pizza shops and delivery drivers reported a surge in orders after this past weekend’s winter storm, according to KY3. A local employee noted that the severe weather boosted business (an unexpected uptick for many workers). KY3
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Springfield’s City Utilities has asked customers to reduce energy use during the extreme cold to keep energy systems reliable. The utility recommends setting thermostats to 68°F, delaying large appliance use, and unplugging devices, and offers updates via its MyAccount (online tool). KY3
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ In December, Greene County homes listed for $299,000 — a slight drop from November’s $299,925 — with 302 new listings, a 10.2 percent rise from last December. The Springfield metro area also saw a median home price drop to $327,000 compared to the previous month. Springfield News-Leader

- ➤ Missouri State's basketball team rallied in the second half to beat UTEP 62-57 on Saturday at Don Haskins Center in El Paso, ending a rare four-game road swing. The Bears now sit tied for second in conference play and will host Sam Houston on Jan. 28. Springfield Daily Citizen
- ➤ Missouri State defeated UTEP 62-57 Saturday with Kobi Williams scoring 21 points and grabbing five rebounds while Michael Osei-Bonsu added 17 points and nine rebounds in a Conference USA game. KY3
