COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Last December, the Christian County Library received its first batch of over 40 rebound historic books from the Anderson History Room at its Ozark branch, funded by the Friends of the Christian County Library at $750. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Barbershop Deluxe, a longtime barber shop established in 1949 (and at 1206 E. Elm St. for 15 years), will move after its building is set for demolition in 2026. The shop will reopen at 1667 E. St. Louis St. on Feb. 24. Springfield Daily Citizen
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services released its 2025 baby name list, naming Charlotte and Theodore as the top choices. The report shows state rankings (with fewer names matching the national top ten) and minor ranking shifts from 2024. Springfield News-Leader
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Springfield-Branson National Airport set a record in 2025 by serving 1.55 million passengers and raising available seats by 11.2 percent compared to 2024 — linking the milestone to local economic strength. Officials say more upgrades will come in 2026, including an expanded terminal apron. KY3
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Melissa Rea was promoted to vice president of chapter services at Care to Learn effective January 2026 and will work with local school superintendents to expand the Clothing Closet program now at every Springfield Public Schools site. - ➤ USDA released new Dietary Guidelines that emphasize high-quality protein, healthy fats and proper portion sizes+ local health experts in Springfield are reviewing the recommendations. The guidelines advise avoiding highly processed foods and monitoring cholesterol to guide healthy eating. KY3
LIFESTYLE NEWS
- ➤ Chef Daniel Pliska shared his oven-poached salmon recipe in Springfield using salmon, shallots, dry white wine (reduced to a fumet) and fresh herbs. The recipe also offers tips to substitute cod and add leeks for extra flavor. KY3
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Players from St. John Bosco High School in California volunteered at Convoy of Hope on Thursday, packing 550 hygiene + meal kits to support the community before competing in a major high school basketball tournament here.
