- ➤ CoxHealth and St. Louis Children’s Hospital broke ground on a 133,000 sqft pediatric outpatient center at 851 E. Primrose St. in Springfield on Jan. 9. The center will offer specialized care for children and is set to open in summer (with support from Washington University School of Medicine). Springfield Daily Citizen

- ➤ Springfield-based Valiant Group is exploring the purchase of eight University Heights properties+ its CEO Josh Manning will meet with neighborhood association members on Jan. 13 to discuss a housing plan that aims for compromise. Springfield Daily Citizen

- ➤ Missouri State Bears won a 79-71 Conference USA game on Saturday, Jan. 10 at Great Southern Bank Arena. Sophomore guard Zaxton King came off the bench to score 14 points, helping the team improve to a 4-1 conference record. Springfield Daily Citizen
- ➤ Kickapoo forward Lexi Ringgold, a Newman University-bound senior, credited her father (Lt. Curt Ringgold of the Springfield Police Department) for her respectful and competitive play during the Pink and White Tournament, with his nearly 30 years of service inspiring her on and off the court.
