GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Manager David Cameron will hold a public listening session today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Greene County Election Center on N. Boonville Ave for residents to review survey results and share their feedback on the Springfield convention center proposal.  Springfield News-Leader

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials said nearly 22 percent of Missouri high school students have taken up vaping, raising concerns about long-term brain effects, and Dr. Sadaf Sohrab (a Mercy Springfield pulmonologist) warned that teens mistakenly view e-cigarettes as harmless water vapor.  KY3
  • Doctors at Mercy in Springfield warn that ramping up exercise too quickly can cause overuse injuries (shin splints, tendonitis, knee pain). They advise starting small, warming up properly, and taking recovery days to help the body adapt safely.  KY3

SPORTS NEWS

  • Missouri State introduced its new head football coach Casey Woods on Monday, replacing Ryan Beard. Woods, the former SMU offensive coordinator, agreed to a five-year contract that starts at $700,000 (with bonus incentives tied to wins), promising fresh leadership for the team.  KY3
