Proper British Date Night Cooking Experience

About this event

Our Proper British Date Night Cooking Experience takes on some of the classics of British cooking, including one of the great dinner-party centerpieces: Beef Wellington.

You’ll make your own individual Beef Wellingtons , wrapping tender beef with mushrooms and flaky puff pastry, and learn how to get the pastry crisp and golden while keeping the beef properly cooked. Alongside, we’ll prepare honey-glazed roasted parsnips , champ (creamy mashed potatoes with butter and scallions) , and asparagus with homemade hollandaise .

For dessert, we’ll make sticky toffee pudding with whiskey and warm toffee sauce , because the British are very good at puddings and there is no reason to argue with them about it.

Along the way, you’ll learn plenty of useful techniques for working with puff pastry, cooking beef, making hollandaise, and getting the whole dinner to the table at the same time. It’s hearty, properly British, and an excellent dinner for a chilly evening.

BYOB

We suggest a Pinot Noir, a merlot-heavy Bordeaux, or a late-harvest Riesling. If beer’s your thing, we suggest an English brown ale or a dry Irish stout. And of course, a gin and tonic is always a British staple!

Each ticket admits one person but don’t let that stop you. Our classes are great to take with friends, family, romantic partners, or anyone who enjoys good food and lots of fun.
