On Tuesday, Sept. 2, work began on fixing the elevators at Jenny Lind Apartments after tenants had used only stairs for over a year. The project will take 9 to 12 weeks to finish as it helps make housing more accessible for low-income, elderly, and disabled residents.

The new south Springfield license office will open by Oct. 8 at the Liberty Commons Shopping Center on Campbell Avenue—operated by the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks. BCFO is renovating the space with new flooring, paint and upgraded lights to create a more welcoming DMV experience.

Mayor Schrag admitted he made a mistake by voting for a business license ordinance that requires proof of personal property tax payment and asked staff to draft a bill to suspend its enforcement and send it to committee (a move council member Hosmer says skips proper review), while council will vote on the proposal on Sept 8.
